Teachers at Valor have created a series of playlists built to review math standards and students work through them individually, at their own pace.
Students complete long-term projects within “houses” that align to career pathways.

Students take pretests to identify readiness and prior knowledge before starting a playlist, and complete posttests at the end of a unit to show what they’ve learned.
Students work through playlists, which provide guidance as to which learning activities they must complete, and which ones they can choose to work on.

In order to truly individualize learning for each of its students, Bronx Arena felt it needed to create its own competencies that align with its instructional approach.
Students only work on three credits at a time, allowing them more time throughout the day to focus on each credit.
Bronx Arena has built a competency-based model so that students not only get a personalized experience but are truly able to accelerate and/or slow down based on their learning needs, due to their flexible schedule and time allocation.
Each student is required to complete two challenges and one capstone project to demonstrate knowledge transfer and mastery of the course content.
By color-coding and organizing activities, students and teachers are able to quickly access and understand the task at hand across remote and hybrid environments.
